TRANSFORMING NATURE, NATURALLY

These homeowners valued the expansiveness of their home’s surroundings and wanted to create the feeling of a vacation setting. Retaining the natural charm of the site, while adding comfortable and inviting activity areas was the goal. They favored the design concept of creating both the recreation areas for the children, as well as a gorgeous, more formal area for sophisticated entertaining, screened from view.

A custom pool provided the focal point to the design solution. Designed to blend elegantly with the natural environment, the pool is easily accessible from the house while remaining unobtrusive.

The new recreation hub includes the pool a diving board, a spa, an outdoor fireplace and bar. The placement of these amenities took advantage of existing gardens to enhance the new construction, and delight the family members.

The steeply-sloped, wooded setting proved challenging, but we skillfully crafted the recreation area to blend with and leverage the natural surroundings. Boulders harvested from the site further added to the perception of a permanent site feature.
