Great-Container

Add a splash of flower color to a terrace, walk, or driveway. Grow lush tropical foliage plants or a selection of culinary herbs. All this and more is possible with container gardening. I’m not referring to a small planter on the windowsill or a tomato plant in a pot. I am thinking of the wide variety of bold containers that bring a distinctive touch of originality to a pat, an entrance garden…whereever you want a striking garden feature. There is an incredible variety of styles, colors and sizes of containers available.

When selecting a pot, it is often best to think big. Large containers are easier to maintain and hold a wide variety of plants. They are striking in appearance, making a bold statement in and of themselves. Add the right plants and they can be truly spectacular. Containers gardens may hold bold tropical foliage, a mass of colorful annuals and  herbs or vegetable plants. Even small trees make a wonderful statement in the right container. A winter vignette of evergreens and ornamental grasses, a fountain or a water garden all can be contained in a large pot.

Potted gardens do need special care to keep them looking their best. The plants root area is limited so they will need to have water and fertilizer provided regularly. Dead flowers and yellowing foliage need to be removed and judicious pruning will keep the plants looking perfect all season long.  If you are thinking of the perfect spot for a lush potted garden in your landscape, call on the landscape architects of Wallace Landscape Associates Inc. to create fabulous container gardens and Wallace Professional Gardeners will keep them looking topnotch all season long.
